An intelligent early-warning service for Mosquito Activity & Risk.
The CONOPS early-warning service combines Earth Observation, climate reanalysis, environmental indicators, entomological records and epidemiological information to forecast mosquito abundance and mosquito-borne disease risk, supporting public health preparedness and decision-making.
What the service provides
- Mosquito abundance prediction maps
- Mosquito-borne disease risk maps
- NUTS2/NUTS3 regional predictive intelligence
- Explainable AI highlighting key drivers
- Operational workflow & downloadable outputs
About the models
The service provides two pretrained model families:
- MAMOTH model: It predicts mosquito abundance at 2 × 2 km resolution
- DVI model: It estimates mosquito-borne disease risk using mosquito abundance, environmental, population and epidemiological indicators
Powered by Earth Observation data, climate reanalysis, environmental indicators, historical entomological records, epidemiological information and socio-economic/population indicators.
How it works
- Select region & prediction date
- Submit prediction order
- Processing
- View & download results
Team & Initiative
CONOPS is developed under Destination Earth by EDGE in EO Sciences and the National Observatory of Athens. EDGE leads project management, onboarding and service coordination activities, while NOA contributes the scientific expertise behind the MAMOTH and DVI models, building on the operational EYWA early-warning system. For advanced deployments, new-region requests or institutional collaboration, please contact the CONOPS support team through the official service support channel.
Available to All DestinE Users
Users can request mosquito activity predictions in regions where the service already provides pre-trained models. Results can be explored directly through the platform viewer with transparency provided through integrated explainability tools.
- Access to pre-trained model regions
- Mosquito abundance and disease-risk predictions
- In-platform visualisation
- Explainable AI interpretation
Extended Capabilities
Advanced users gain access to extended operational features intended for research teams, public authorities, and institutional deployments.
- Export capabilities (CSV / GeoJSON) available to advanced users only
- Ability to submit new-region enquiries for potential custom model enablement
- Support for custom model deployments and extended coverage
- Priority interaction with the CONOPS service team
